With our weekly or monthly membership, you'll gain exclusive access to our state-of-the-art studio facility, complete with a wide range of tools and equipment at your fingertips. Whether you're a pottery enthusiast, a sculptor, or simply someone seeking an artistic escape, our Studio Membership offers you a dedicated 3 hours per week to immerse yourself in your craft. It's time to embrace your inner rebel artist and explore the studio like a mischievous Picasso on a creative rampage.

What's Included

We've handpicked the crème de la crème of our studio's finest treasures, thrown in some secret sauce, and tied it all up with a shiny bow of awesomeness, because, well, we're just that fancy. All of this is included in your membership where the only limit is your imagination (and the 3-hour time slot, of course).

Access To All Tools

From extruders, rolling pins, dryers, moulds, you'll have access to everything we have in the studio.

Clay Recycle Facility

A dedicated space where you can responsibly recycle your clay, minimising waste and making a positive impact on the environment.

Wheel Access

Spin, shape, and create magnificent ceramic wonders at your own pace with access to our wheels.

BYO Clay

Bring your own midfire clay and sculpt, shape, and mold it into remarkable works of art. We do kindly ask you show us a photo of the mid fire clay and glazes you've used before we fire any of your pieces.

Glazing & Firing

As an exclusive member, enjoy a flat rate of just $20 per kg adding the final finesse to your pieces. Or $15 per kg for any Bisque firing.

What hours can I access the studio?

Our studio membership hours are 8am-5:30pm Monday to Friday.

Please note that we may have some classes running in a seperate area of the studio while you're here but rest assured, we'll have a spot secured for you!

What type of clay can I use at the studio?

You're welcome to BYO any clay of your preference however, if you wish to use our Kiln Firing & Glazing services we can only accept the use of Mid Fire Clay Cone 6.

Can I store my items in the studio between sessions?

Absolutely! Just let us know when your next in the studio and we'll find a safe and secure space for you to store any items or pieces you've created.

How do I arrange for my pieces to be fired?

All our memberships get to experience our exclusive rates of $20 per kg for any glazed pieces & $8 per kg for Bisque firing. To arrange use of our Kilm, please chat with one of our studio techs or get ahead and pre-book via emailing us at memberships@theartdepartment.com.au.

Just let us know how many pieces and what day/time you're next in the studio and we'll handle the rest.

Can I purchase clay in studio?

Unfortunately we don't have a option for you to purchase clay in the studio - this is why we have a BYO policy as a part of our memberships.

Can I pause my membership?

While we'd hate to see you go completely, you can pause your membership anytime as long as you provide us with a minimum of 14 days notice. You can simply let us know by emailing us all the details at memberships@theartdepartment.com.au and rest assured our team will be in touch to confirm your membership pause.

Studio Etiquette

We're all about bending the rules of reality here, but when it comes to studio etiquette, we kindly ask you to channel your inner responsible artist. Treat our studio like your own, leaving it sparkly clean after your creative escapades. If you're entrusting us with your beloved tools or precious art pieces, just give a shout-out to our studio techs, who will work their magic to keep them safe and secure. And remember, our kiln firing service is a fiery ride, but any unexpected breakages may require a small contribution towards repairs. Together, let's keep our clay realm thriving with respect and creativity!

We kindly request our members to embrace the spirit of harmony by keeping their workspaces clean, minimising unnecessary noise, and leaving our communal spaces as they found them. Let's create a space where creativity blooms and makers feel safe, inspired, and uplifted. Join us in shaping an extraordinary community of artful souls. To be eligible for a studio membership, you must show proof you've completed one of our 5-week workshops, completed an equivilent course at another studio, or showcase extensive ceramic experience.
